Identity : Cultural Themes to Get Students Talking
Culturally relevant themes such as values, politeness and gender roles are motivating, but often too abstract for students to talk about. Identity solves this problem with questionnaires to help students articulate opinions, and speaking tasks to develop communication skills and create real interaction.
Grammar and Vocabulary in a Cultural Context
This presentation will introduce ways of using culture as an entry point into language learning. Culturally contextualized readings will be used as a tool for comparative culture and language awareness. Culture-specific grammar and vocabulary will also be explored, along with a variety of classroom activities.
